ONGOING: Philly Dramacast
The Philadelphia Dramatists Center’s Philly DramaCast stars the playwrights, actors, and producers of the Greater Philadelphia area in ten-minute short plays.

Before you send us your work, you should know that these plays will be done SOLELY through AUDIO. Our audience can’t see what our actors are doing, so please keep that in mind when writing your play. Some stage directions might be perfect for audio (Glass breaks) but some might look better onstage than on air (Fight scene) and some won’t translate at all (Double take.) If you do write for our show, we may ask you to make some changes to your script before we record it, especially if you’ve never written for radio or podcasts before. We might ask you to change stage directions or scenes, add more narration, or even some exposition. It might look like over-explaining on paper, but these are necessary for audio drama, and almost invisible when performed.
If you’re not sure how to write audio drama, these websites offer plenty of tips and advice:

Playwrights: To submit  a script you must be a member of the PDC
Send a ten-page sample of your work.
Actors: Send us a short audio demo, your resume and headshot.

All queries should be sent to pdcopportunities@gmail.com.

ONGOING: Long Table Reads.
The PDC will be hosting biweekly Long Reads via Zoom on off-weeks from Playwright’s Happy Hour.
The Long Read Program features one full length script as opposed to select pages from multiple playwrights during our Happy Hours. It is designed for playwrights who have had their pieces workshopped previously in other PDC programs such as the Writer’s Circle or Happy Hour.
